Casey and Jake are total opposites. But when they come together, it just might be true love.

As a debut novel, I must really say that I was blown away by this book. The author’s prowess was thorough and fun, clearly picturing out each scene. Her characters were entertaining but shared a tinge of depth that had me flipping pages at odd hours of the day.

Casey Steadman wanted to prove something to her family and to herself—she can lead a mature life. Her first move was transferring to a new house. But she didn’t know that by moving to that house would pose a danger to her heart. Casey was a really quirky and fun character. She was barely a woman yet no longer a girl. She was amidst this really nice mix of mature and carefree. I really enjoyed her character. I loved learning with her and feeling with her.

Jake Miller decided that the best way to live his kind of life was to live it with Remy—his two-year-old German Shepherd. Carrying the pain of not being there on his mother’s death, Jake decided that he no longer wanted to burden someone with the nature of his work. Jake was an honest, genuine, and insanely hot military man. I am ogling at the mental picture the author has helped me create in my head. He wasn’t a broken man but you still want to take care of him.

The chemistry between Jake and Casey simmered at first, an instant connection that shows a huge probability of heated passion. I loved the push and pull between them, how they fought the feelings at first but ended up falling harder. The author has a way of dancing with words and each scene was a delight. Her writing prowess is a perfect for avid readers of chic lit romances. It’s quirky, sassy, sophisticated and hits all the tender female spots!
