BOOK REVIEW: Dare to Touch (Dare to Love #5) by Carly Phillips

Unwilling to let something special go so easily, Dylan has been pursuing Olivia ever since. When the Pro-Bowl takes them to the tropical paradise of Hawaii, Dylan is determined to make sure their time together isn’t all business. What happens in paradise is life altering but once Olivia admits her deepest secret and fear, will Dylan still want the forever he’s been pushing for?

MY REVIEW

5 stars

Carly Phillips is one of the authors whose books I just pick up and buy without reading the synopsis. She managed to capture my taste in books, and has never failed me with anything she writes. This book is yet again one of her masterpieces. Carly Phillips’ forte lies within hot and sexy scenes, warm familial love, and a storyline with a certain depth that will hit a reader straight through the heart.

Being the fifth Dare book, Dare to Touch “simmered down” into a sweet and sexy contemporary romance that held Carly Phillips’ imprint. There was still a little “kink” in there but the warmth and depth of the storyline and the beautiful construction of characters were what drew me into the story. This might be one of her bests (if not her best) books! Olivia and Dylan is, so far, my favourite Dare couple!

The confident, tough Olivia people saw on the outside was far different than the sensitive, hurt, girl that lived inside her.

Olivia Dare was scarred by men earlier in her life. With a cheating father and an ex boyfriend who ran away when he found out she was pregnant, Olivia’s trust for men has been replaced by fear, pain, and an unresolved issue on commitment. Olivia’s character was really an absorbing one. She was a smart, compassionate, and successful woman who hid behind a strong facade but buried an unresolved pain from the past. She’s always treated relationships as a temporary thing. Well, not until Dylan Rhodes made it clear that “temporary” wasn’t part of his intentions.

He was raw, intense, and kept his emotions in check. On simmer, never boiling over.
Dylan Rhodes might be one of my favourite heroes of all time. He was sure, honest, frank, and determined. When he found a go signal to pursue Olivia Dare, he didn’t allow second thoughts and went straight to the prize. He knew what he wanted, and what he wanted, he had to get. Olivia was reluctant and resistant but he was sure so he compromised. And he’ll do everything to have her.

It wasn’t just sex. It was something good and well worth the effort he’d had to put into pursuing.

The connection and attraction between Olivia and Dylan was instantaneous. When they first appeared on a scene together, I felt a surge of fireworks going on. The tug between them was really strong and it made every scene so gripping and intense. The sexual tension was sizzling but there was a deeper connection between them that surpassed sexual.

It was a totally great read! Every scene is entertaining, no boring moments. The characterization was awesome, back stories were interesting, and the sneak-peek trip to the other Dares wrapped up this awesome trip! Trust me, you won’t be able to put this book down. I wasn’t able to! Sorry, undone chores. Sorry Mom for not finishing the laundry. Sorry, uncleaned room. But I’m definitely not sorry that I spent time reading this gem!
