Book Four in The Elements Series

By Brittainy C. Cherry

Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn't look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision--a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

BOOK REVIEW: The Air He Breathes by Brittainy C. Cherry

BLURB

I was warned about Tristan Cole.

“Stay away from him,” people said.
“He’s cruel.”
“He’s cold.”
“He’s damaged.”

It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.

But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.

We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.

Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.

MY REVIEW
5/5 STARS

MAGNIFICENTLY WRITTEN!

I'm a big worshipper of Brittainy C. Cherry but she absolutely outdid herself with The Air He Breathes. Her poetic proses drove the complicated story into a tell-tale of real emotions, past demons, and moving on.

“You’re beautiful. You’re a beautiful, broken kind of monster.”

Tristan was a dead man walking. Being robbed by the reasons for his existence made the struggle of continually breathing hard for him. I absolutely loved his character. He was artistically soul-stirring and every reaction and coping he did stole my breath away. He was a strong man with a troubled heart and soul. All he needed was a little spark.

“Your smile was the highlight of my day.”
“What was your dark moment of the day?” I asked.
“Your frown.”

Elizabeth only had one heartbeat left. She was shattered into pieces by the death of her husband and the only thing piecing her together was her daughter. I loved the honesty of Elizabeth's emotion. Her genuine heart and her ability to understand the misunderstood drove this story into an interesting path.

She undressed me and made love to her past. I slid into her and made love to my ghosts.

I actually thought all versions of broke man x broken woman have been covered in numerous books. But when I read this gem, I was transported into a world of raw pain, honest heartaches, and the poignancy of brokenness like I've never known broken before. Brittainy C. Cherry covered all of those with such perfect control over her unique streak of writing. Nothing have kept me out of this book. One start and I was a goner. It kept me anticipating, feeling, fantasizing, and learning at some point and then all at once. Unlike her books that I have read before, The Air He Breathes was more mature and in-depth. More soul-stirring than heart-stealing. It's a book that I would gladly lose myself in over and over again.

BOOK REVIEW: Art & Soul by Brittainy C. Cherry

 photo synopsisx2_zpsn9mcb3rl.jpg

I had always been the invisible art student in high school.
Passed by. Glossed over. Unnoticed.
Now I was Aria Watson… that girl.

After one bad decision, and being labeled a slut, I was no longer unseen. I was the whore. The ignoramus. The tramp.
I would never be invisible again.

Particularly to Levi Myers. He was the odd boy with the beautiful soul who accepted and understood the broken girl inside me.

Falling in love wasn’t the plan. But how could I resist his promises of hope? Of forgiveness? Of a future I had stopped dreaming of?

We were shattered. We were scarred. We were something strange and beautiful.

We were two lost souls holding on to the only thing that could keep us together.

Each other.

poignant
adjective poi•gnant \ˈpȯi(g)-nÉ™nt\

1. pungently pervasive
2. a: painfully affecting the feelings
b: designed to make an impression
3. pleasurably stimulating

Poignant is my favourite word and it perfectly sums up this book. Brittainy C. Cherry did it again; broke me, mended me, made me laugh, made me have fun, broke me again, mended me again, and made me enjoy every bit of every surge of that rollercoaster ride of emotions. Versed perfectly by her stirring writing prose and her uniquely delightful characters, I hereby declare Art & Soul a five-star #bookgasm.

She was the rainbow to my everlasting thunderstorms.

Aria Watson’s life as the artistically gifted invisible girl in school was doing great. Well, until she got knocked up by the guy who told her she was cute. Aria was her own abstract. Her personality was filled with so much color that it formed what seemed to be a facade of beautiful disarray. And it takes a closer look and a deeper connection to fully appreciate her story and beauty. I loved and admired every color she has.

... his weird persona was so far from his hot exterior. He was his own oxymoron.

Levi Myers was good at looking and being good. With a messy life and separated parents, Levi sought beauty at everything. He was a beautiful mix of tunes that melodically jives with any kind of reader. He was hot, funny, charming, and had his own quirks that made me love him more. But aside from Levi’s pleasant and easy personality, what struck me the most was his story and how it shaped him to be this utterly brilliant man that he is at seventeen.

I loved him with no regrets of yesterday and no fears of tomorrow. I loved him in the moment, quietly, with secret whispers of love that only our young spirits could comprehend.

I loved every bit of this book. Brittainy C. Cherry has a way of drawing readers with her words, slowly at first, and then all at once. I never saw what will happen, and even if I did know her for her heartbreaking twists, I wholeheartedly surrendered myself to the experience. There’s something about how Brittainy C. Cherry writes feelings that I can’t seem to help but lay limp and succumbed to whatever it is...and still love every bit of it.

And then of course, there are her wonderfully bizarre characters. If there was one author who knew how to create unique and utterly lovable characters, it’s Brittainy C. Cherry. What I loved that most was that it wasn’t solely focused on the romance between Levi and Aria. It’s a book about love, in all forms and manner, enriched further by significant characters that had equally moving stories as the main characters.

Art & Soul was like an experience and Brittainy C. Cherry taught it creatively and wonderfully. She poignantly showed the beauty of the things we normally ignore. This book rendered me speechless and yet I couldn’t stop talking about its beauty.

BOOK REVIEW: Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy C. Cherry

To Whom it May Concern,

It was easy to call us forbidden and harder to call us soulmates. Yet I believed we were both. Forbidden soulmates.

When I arrived to Edgewood, Wisconsin I didn’t plan to find him. I didn't plan to stumble into Joe's bar and have Daniel's music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I had no idea that my happiness would remember its own bliss.

When I started senior year at my new school, I wasn’t prepared to call him Mr. Daniels, but sometimes life happens at the wrong time for all the right reasons.

Our love story wasn’t only about the physical connection.

It was about family. It was about loss. It was about being alive. It was silly. It was painful. It was mourning. It was laughter.

It was ours.

And for those reasons alone, I would never apologize for loving Mr. Daniels.

-Ashlyn Jennings

It's already typical for me not to expect anything when I try out an author’s book for the first time.  Even if Loving Mr. Daniels was recommended by someone whose taste in books I really trust, I still tried hard not to expect too much. But hell, this book just totally floored me. I am utterly in love with this story.
Ms. Brittainy Cherry’s writing prose is so refreshing, like a newly found breath of fresh air. I loved the way she told the tale, sweetly but very intelligently. She waved a huge amount of feelings towards me and had me stuck and noting her beautiful twists of words. I found myself quoting a lot of words...okay, fine. I quoted half of the word count of the book. When I really thought I've read all kinds of words in a book, Miss Brittainy showed me she held more.
Her characters are profoundly addicting and unique. They were perfectly broken people but to me they were a beautiful work of art. I loved that they were patterned from real people and were never romanticized. They pained hard, they cried hard, and faced the crap of life like real people. Ryan was my favourite secondary character. He made me cry so hard. His wit, his love, his humor, and the sunshine he brought despite the storm in him made me love the crap out of hm.

            Beautiful.
            Breathtaking.
            Brilliant.
            Blue eyes.

Daniel Daniels has placed himself up to my top ten favourite heroes. He exudes an aura of an attractive kind of mystery, wit, and softness. When he spoke, you’d want to listen to every word and drown yourself in the ocean of his mind. In all honesty, I really thought I was sure I already knew what character he would turn out to be when I first encountered him. He was smart, into music, and handsome in the most subtly rugged, romeo-ish way. But my, Danny shocked my core when he showed me Mr. Daniels. And I loved him more.

I was one hundred percent Ashlyn Jennings.
And I was one hundred percent his.

Ashlyn Jennings was a really interesting character. I loved exploring her. I loved and admired her strength and her weaknesses, her tears and her laughs, her love and her hate, her loyalty and her courage, her intelligence and her mistakes...everything. She was a really relatable character. Journeying with her in this story was affective and really influential. She touched my soul.

Ashlyn: Do you know what I like about you so far?
            Daniel: What’s that?
            Ashlyn: Everything.

Ashlyn and Daniel had to be one of my favourite book couples. They weren’t an exact replica of a reader’s fantasy couple of perfection, power, fame, and sophistication. They were the exact opposite—imperfect, troubled, broken, hurt, real—but they rendered me with the kind of love that I never had in other books. I loved that they were imperfect but made everything feel perfect. Their love wasn’t based in mere attraction. It went into an insurmountable depth of real love and acceptance. They don’t just love, they repaired. They don’t just make each other happy, they give each other a form of contentment and an endless dance of true love.
This story has touched my heart and soul. It took my heart into a sing-song harmony of feelings; subtle, then a little sad, rising up into a higher note of tears, a refrain of interesting character engagement, to shouting choruses of unexpected events, and ending with a phenomenal, heart-melting bang.
If you think Shakespeare wasn’t sexy, this story will change your mind.

Promise, promise.
