Title: Wherever It Leads
Author: Adriana Locke
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Kari March Designs
 Release Date: February 15, 2016

Blurb

Smooth. Sexy. Irresistible.

Those qualities equal only one thing.

Big. Freaking. Trouble.

Brynne Calloway knows that anything that seems too good to be true usually is. Fenton Abbott and his cashmere voice, Adonis body, and a magnetism like no other clearly falls into that category. But what’s life without a little risk?

It was supposed to be a rebound, an uncomplicated escape from reality. But nothing ever goes as planned. Fenton turns out to be so much more … in ways Brynne never sees coming.

Excerpt

I pull out a cute emerald green dress. I brought a bright yellow bikini that would look really cute under it. Tossing my things around in the suitcase, I come up empty handed. Staring at my luggage, I realize I don't see any of the five bikinis I brought.

Dashing into the closet, I look on the rack where I hung the red one up from yesterday.

Gone.

"That fucker."

"Who?"

I spin around to see Fenton leaning against the doorframe. His blue tie is loose, his jacket missing, his hair a mussed-up, yummy mess.

"The thief," I say, hands on my hips, trying to hide my desire to wrap my legs around his waist and kiss the hell out of him.

"We have a thief?" He watches me with complete sincerity, like he has no clue what I'm talking about.

"We do. And he seems to have a penchant for my bikinis."

"Huh."

"Yeah," I say, traipsing over to him. "And nobody likes a thief."

"You know what else nobody likes?" He shoves off the frame and wraps his hands around my waist, lacing his fingers together in the dip at the small of my back. "Girls that can't listen."

"I’ve never been a good listener,” I sigh dramatically. “I just make things happen ... like when my bikinis get stolen, I just call the concierge and have them bring me another one up. Something skimpy and very, very sexy.”

He smacks my ass, making me yelp.

“And I charged it to your room since you stole my others. Thief."

“Did you really have them bring you another one?” he chuckles, a sinful smirk on his face. He’s trying to figure out how to handle me, yet still get his way.

“No,” I give in, as his lips find the crook of my neck. “But I hadn’t ruled it out.”

"You're going to make me crazy, you know that?"

He brushes his lips to mine and, in a split second, has me forgetting all about the bikinis. I’m focused solely on getting him out of his suit.

My Review
5/5 stars

This book is a fucking bomb! It has kept me up on the wee hours of the morning and forced me to abandon anything else but Mark and Charlie. I hereby declare today as the day Corinne Michaels completely owned me. Defenseless is deffffinitely one of my top books this year!!

“I rev your engine, baby. I speak your language. I’m your weapon of choice.”

Mark Dixon just became my ultimate favorite among these guys (Sorry Muff and Dreamboat!). That mouth of his do wonders that I can’t get enough of. He's funny, sexy, smooth, and downright loyal. Mark is a light character with a whole lot of depth, valor, and sincerity. He’s definitely a hero who could charm the hardest of hearts.

I’d sell my soul if she asked.

Now Charlie Erickson is more than just charms and sass. This woman is 100% badass. I can’t count the number of times that she’s floored me with her words. She’s so constantly entertaining and fierce. Her movements were always calculated but I reveled on the times when she lost herself in Mark.

“You and I, we’re fire, baby. And I’m about to burn you to the ground.”

Defenseless was an intensely consuming read. May it be with the explosive heat Mark and Charlie had going on or with the enlivening mystery of the plot, this book is just pure magic. Miss Corinne knows how to make the readers beg and yet still make every word sear deep. Guard your heart, ladies, Mark Dixon and Charlie Erickson make a good team in breaking people’s defenses!!!

BOOK REVIEW: To Trust a Rogue by Christi Caldwell

Title: To Trust a Rogue
Author: Christi Caldwell
Series: The Heart of Duke #8
Genre: Historical Romance

Blurb
A rogue
Marcus, the Viscount Wessex has carefully crafted the image of rogue and charmer for polite Society. Under that façade, however, dwells a man whose dreams were shattered almost eight years earlier by a young lady who captured his heart, pledged her love, and then left him, with nothing more than a curt note.

A widow
Eight years earlier, faced with no other choice, Mrs. Eleanor Collins, fled London and the only man she ever loved, Marcus, Viscount Wessex. She has now returned to serve as a companion for her elderly aunt with a daughter in tow. Even though they’re next door neighbors, there is little reason for her to move in the same circles as Marcus, just in case, she vows to avoid him, for he reminds her of all she lost when she left.

Reunited
As their paths continue to cross, Marcus finds his desire for Eleanor just as strong, but he learned long ago she’s not to be trusted. He will offer her a place in his bed, but not anything more. Only, Eleanor has no interest in this new, roguish man. The more time they spend together, the protective wall they’ve constructed to keep the other out, begin to break. With all the betrayals and secrets between them, Marcus has to open his heart again. And Eleanor must decide if it’s ever safe to trust a rogue.

My Review
5/5 stars

“It is me and you, as it always meant to be and as it has always truly been.”

Christi Caldwell never disappoints. From her renowned wallflowers to her scandalous rogues, I can definitely say now that I will read anything this woman writes. She carries every word with ease and an escalating excitement in every page.

To Trust a Lord shows another side of Christi Caldwell that I reeeaaallly love. With the succeeding books she’s been releasing, I’ve been continuously supplied with a new “Christi Caldwell” feels that is so different from the last book. She keeps getting better and better with every book.

This book was a hypnotizing mix of love, betrayal, revenge, hope, and reconciliation. Miss Christi effortlessly tied this complicated storyline with such ease and emotion that it was totally impossible for me to drop it when I started reading it. There was an element of suspense with how details unfolded that kept the whole reading experience more exhilarating. The story was so sweet, heart-quenching, and fun all at the same time. This is definitely the kind of book that soothes every freaking mood I have. I can read this a couple of times and still love every bit of it. Now it’s getting harder to pick a favorite Christi Caldwell book…

BOOK REVIEW: Finding Serenity by T.E. Black

BLURB

When it was good, it was great.
When it was bad, it was worse.

My life turned into a whirlwind of destruction before I even got the chance to love her.
She could have been my angel, my saving grace; I never gave her the chance.
I gave myself a taste of her angelic kiss, convincing her to love with everything she had. Then I destroyed her. I destroyed both of us and I felt nothing as I did it.

I didn't feel anything in my sorry state.

We both had secrets and both of them would have destroyed us in one way or another.
Hers could have possibly been bigger than mine, but I doubted it from the start.
I knew I had the quality of devastation within me the entire time.

After all,
I'm the king of lies.
I'm the king of addiction.
I'm the king of turmoil.
I'm the king of motherfucking heartbreak.

MY REVIEW
4.5/5 STARS
The second in the series, T.E. Black continues to blow my mind with the stark poignancy of her writing prose. Finding Serenity deviated from the smooth-sailing, light-hearted, idealistic romance, but its effect still fir every bit I seek in a good story.

The main characters were contrasting interests and blew every page up in flames. There was a tinge of roughness amidst the heat they shared but the connection is defined throughout the book. I loved the equal strength and geniuses her characters possessed. They weren’t made to be liked but their love was paved with a realness that aren’t seen in most books.

What I loved about this gem was the spontaneity and unpredictability of the story progress. The experience of reading this book gave me mixed emotions. There were times when I completely disagree with a decision or an action, certain scenes that made me retaliate. But at the same time, there was this constant presence of their love for each other. Yes, Shay and Trent’s story definitely has imperfections. But I have to really note that that was the jewel of this book.

If you’re searching for a sentimental, traditionally sweet romance, well this isn’t for you. Finding Serenity is raw, rough, poignant, and deep. Every bit of this gem clawed right into my heart.

I look around because the hair on the back of my neck prickles. “We need to get out of here.” Someone is here, watching, listening, and now it’s time to do what I do best. “I’ve missed you.” I smile while I use the tip of my finger to trace his jawline.

Mark’s eyes shift over my head as he pulls me flush against his body. We’re both facing exits. “I’ve missed you more,” he plays along.

This might just work. He’s on alert as well and senses something awry. His fingers splay across my lower back as he holds me close. “Maybe we should head back to my place so you can show me just how much.” I glance over his shoulder. His blonde hair falls in his eyes as he dips his head into my neck. I know the move, but a shiver runs down my spine.

“You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” I release a very low moan, which I didn’t give permission to escape. Mark’s lips glide across my skin.

I’m not sure he’s acting.

I’m not even sure that I am.

Then Mark reminds me this is serious. “There are two guys behind you.” His voice is low enough that only I can hear him. To anyone passing, we’re two lovers reacquainting ourselves. “One at my two o’clock, and the other is out of my view.”

“One just passed behind you twice. I think going toward my exit is best.” I snuggle closer. “I’m ready when you are.” The double meaning is meant for anyone to hear, but Mark should know it means I’m ready to disappear. “You’ll have to keep up, though.”

He leans back while cupping my face. His lips hover over mine. “I don’t have any problems keeping you satisfied, princess.”

My pulse spikes. I know he can hear it, feel it, see in my eyes that I’m affected. My breaths are shallow as his hands slowly make their way down my arms.

“Arrogant prick,” I mutter.

I can tell he’d be an incredible lover. His overconfidence would only play to my benefit. We’re both cut from the same cloth, ready to fight for dominance. He’d win, though. I can see it in his eyes. There would be no battle, Mark has already won. Right now, he controls me. He determines whether we kiss, what it’ll be like, and for the first time in my life—I surrender.

His lips come closer. “They’re closing in,” he whispers, his eyes locked on me. “Charlie?” he asks.

“What?” My voice is barely audible.

“This will happen again when we don’t have to fight off people, and then you’ll be mine.”

I don’t have time to reply. His lips crash down on mine as he spins me around so he leads our exit. The second our mouths collide, my brain disconnects. My fingers tangle in his hair, grabbing it to pull him close. Mark’s hands hold my face to his and he continues to guide me. I know we’re moving but I have no idea to where. In this instant, I don’t care. Never has someone made me feel so desperate for them. I never lose control, never feel so lost, yet right now, I am. I’m raw, exposed, and completely vulnerable.
