COVER REVEAL: Finding Serenity by T.E. Black

 Title: Finding Serenity
Series: A story of unexpected love
Author: T.E. Black
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: January 11, 2016

SYNOPSIS

When it was good, it was great. When it was bad, it was worse.

My life turned into a whirlwind of destruction before I even got the chance to love her.
She could have been my angel, my saving grace; I never gave her the chance.

I gave myself a taste of her angelic kiss, convincing her to love with everything she had. Then I destroyed her. I destroyed both of us and I felt nothing as I did it.

I didn't feel anything in my sorry state.

We both had secrets and both of them would have destroyed us in one way or another. Hers could have possibly been bigger than mine, but I doubted it from the start. I knew I had the quality of devastation within me the entire time.

After all, I'm the king of lies. I'm the king of addiction. I'm the king of turmoil. I'm the king of motherfucking heartbreak.

This being T.E.’s debut, I’m blown away with her writing. You’d think she’s been a writer a long time and has a bunch of books published… Nope. This is her first and I know in time, her books are only going to get even better. She has become a favorite author of mine even with just reading one book.” ~ Brianna's Bookish Confessions
“For a debut novel, I was thoroughly impressed from the first page all the way to the end. The author did a wonderful job sucking me in with a very intense prologue. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough just to see how Callie’s story would unfold.” ~Author M.M. Koenig
I have fallen in love for T.E. Black’s debut novel Finding A Way. The story is well written and from the very beginning it will captivate you and will not allow you to put the story down until the end."~ Swoon Worthy Books

BOOK REVIEW: Slide by T. Gephart

SYNOPSIS

Touring with a huge rock band and landing a record contract means you’ve hit the big time, right? Sadly neither of those things gave Rusty Crawford, lead guitarist of the band Black Addiction, worldwide fame and fortune. Which was a shame because he had the lifestyle down to a fine art—without the clichéd stint in rehab. Even being back in the Bronx, paying his dues didn’t rattle the charismatic axe man, ladies loved him and men wanted to be him. Fate would just have to catch up. Seemed like fate had more than just a platinum album planned for his future.

Alison Williams had the perfect life. Or at least she did until her world came crashing down around her, in the most epic way. With her future no longer a certainty she finds herself out of her comfort zone and into unchartered territory—a place where Rusty Crawford likes to spend most of his time.

Would the charming and ridiculously hot rock god help her find her feet, or send her further down the rabbit hole? One thing was for sure; both of them were in for the ride of their lives.

MY REVIEW
4.5/5 STARS

Another keeper from T. Gephart! She really writes one of my favourite kinds of rock stars ever! I was heartbroken when the Power Station series ended but I’m definitely ready to go crazy addicted for Black Addiction !

After experiencing a life of confusion and uncertainties, Alison strived to establish a life of control and assurances. Ali’s character development was really one of the driving forces of this book. She caught me off guard a lot of times and that rarely happens when I read a book! My, that sweet, loving, and serious woman definitely hid something beneath her soft exterior...

Now Rusty, is definitely a one-of-a-kind hero. You know that kind of hot, possessive, male we all fantasize about? Now sprinkle some sweet, understanding, and loyal in there. Yup. Rusty is definitely made of the most exquisite book boyfriend quality. More than the evident steam he exudes on this book, what really made me love him more was his confidence, passion, and unwavering love for Ali.

This book was really hard to put down! It was fun, over-the-top hot, and continuously entertaining! Plus, it surprised me with a tinge of kink!! You. Will. LOVE. It. This book pretty much has every vital thing I need in a perfect book! I can’t wait for more of Black Addiction! I have a sweet spot for Joey...

BOOK REVIEW: The Play by Karina Halle

SYNOPSIS

A troubled Scottish rugby player who doesn't play by the rules.
A vivacious man-eater who's given up on love.
When it comes to Lachlan and Kayla, opposites don't just attract - they explode.

Kayla Moore has always been comfortable with her feisty, maneating reputation. At least it was fine until she hit her thirties and saw her best friends Stephanie and Nicola settle down with Linden and Bram McGregor, leaving Kayla to be the odd one out. Tired of being the third wheel with nothing but one-night stands and dead-end dates in San Francisco, Kayla decides to take a vow of celibacy and put men on the backburner.

That is until she lays her eyes on Linden and Bram’s cousin, hot Scot Lachlan McGregor. Lachlan is her sexual fantasy come to life – tall, tatted, and built like a Mack truck. With a steely gaze and successful rugby career back in Edinburgh, he’s the kind of man that makes her want to throw her vow right out the window. But Lachlan’s quiet and intense demeanor makes him a hard man to get to know, let alone get close to.

It isn’t until the two of them are thrown together one long, unforgettable night that Kayla realizes there is so much more to this brooding macho man than what meets the eye. But even with sparks flying between the two, Lachlan can’t stay in America forever. Now, Kayla has to decide whether to uproot her whole life and chance it all on someone she barely knows or risk getting burned once again.

Sometimes love is a game that just needs to be played.

MY REVIEW
5/5 STARS

A brilliant masterpiece! Karina Halle just totally blew my mind with this book. From the moment I read the first words, I was continually drugged and indefinitely addicted.

Lachlan McGregor is probably one of my most favorite heroes ever. He was broken but he fights and loves with all the pieces left. He was a beast but he possessed a unique and honest genuineness that carried this story into a whirlwind of feels. His character is different from Linden and Bram and I reveled on their differences. The magnificent mix of mysterious, angst, hope, love, passion, light, and darkness in Lach's character totally ate me whole. He is my brand if perfect imperfection.

Kayla Moore is a beautifully complex character. She was sophistication, sexiness, and strength rolled into one hot package. Although she claimed her heart was black, there were numerous moments when she proved her heart was screaming color of re. She possessed a strong and sexy heart that could perfectly unlock Lachlan Mcgregor.

I could talk nonstop on how much I loved this book. Karina Halle is a mind-effing, soul-stirring, hypnotic writer. Every page is alive and every scene slipped effortlessly inside me and grabbed my heart. This book is utterly addictive, consistently enchanting, and perfectly written! Karina Halle triggered all of my feelings out and scattered them all over the place. Now I'm just totally floored. Ruined. Absolutely satisfied. F book hangover. I think I'm in a book high. One of my top 5 books this 2015!

EXCERPT

I shouldn’t have come. All the things I felt and fought, the things I suspected he felt too, he just spewed all over me. And as much as I want to be, I’m not sure I’m ready. I’ll never forget seeing my Mama in bed for days after Daddy left. And even though she got up, I suspect a part of her never left that bed, but just stayed there, waiting. We had to leave the house where she grew up and where I spent my first years, because Daddy left us with nowhere to go. Mama learned to stand on her two feet, and I’ve done the same. I just didn’t count on Rhyson sweeping me off of them.

“We’re obviously on different pages about this.” I pull my hands free and turn to leave, but he steps in front of me, blocking my grand exit. “Let’s talk later.”

“Enough talking.”

The heat of his body grabs me before his hands do. He traps my chin between two fingers, taking my mouth in a paradox of rough and tender. I want to move. To slide away from his body pressing me into the pool table. But I can’t. Not with his hand caressing my back. Not with his tongue in my mouth. Not with his erection pressing into my stomach. I can’t. I won’t. I have been denying myself this, and I’m so damn hungry. My mouth opens under his, ravenous and wet and hot. His groan vibrates against my lips.

“Yes. Good God, yes, Pep.” His words slip down my throat.

I strain up on tiptoes, clawing my fingers into his dark hair, forcing him closer. He lifts me onto the pool table, planting himself between my knees. His fingers skim my bare thigh, working up my leg until he reaches a damp patch of silk. He pushes my panties aside, rubbing his hand into the wet flesh there before sliding one long finger and then another inside of me. I rock into these fingers which have awed millions with their skill. They own me. I’m the instrument in his hands. He’s playing me. Plucking at me. Strumming me.

He tugs at the wide neck of my sweater until it falls away from my shoulder, slipping his hand in and cupping my naked breast. He brushes his fingers over my nipple, and I lose my mind and every inhibition. My head flops back and I stretch my legs wider, offering him anything he wants.

“Are you kidding me?” His question burns the vulnerable curve of my neck as he drags his lips to my shoulder. “You come here wearing no bra and think I won’t…”

He abandons the words, his dark, untidy head disappearing under my sweater, and before I have time to regain even millimeters of sanity, my nipple is in his mouth and he’s suckling me. Not gentle. Not soft. My breasts are so small, he almost eats me whole. Every draw, every suck, every bite sends a power surge to my core until my knees hold his hips in a desperate grip, and my nails rake across the flat surface of the pool table behind me.

His mouth at my breast. His fingers inside me. His clean scent surrounding me. I have nowhere to hide anymore. I am exposed. I want to spread myself wide open for him. That voice that has been telling me I can’t rely on him. I can’t trust him. I can’t need him—that voice is stunned into silence by his thorough possession of my body, by the inferno between my legs, blazing a hole right through my soul and scorching my heart.

Excerpt

“Hello, ladies.” His voice purred, sending vibrations through my body.

It was him. My beautiful mystery man. The one who I’d seen plenty but never spoken to. He was standing in front of me, smiling.

In hindsight, I shouldn’t have been so surprised. There weren’t many bars in our little neighborhood where you didn’t need a Hep C shot before you entered. This particular establishment promised an impressive beer menu without the risk of a communicable disease, so it would stand to reason he would know about it too.

“Hi.” Was all I was able to manage, convinced he was probably talking to someone else. Perhaps he meant the Amazonian redhead who was sitting to my left, openly staring—that would make a hell of a lot of more sense. They could probably shoot joint commercials for teeth whitener and make adorable, if not freakishly tall, children together.

“I couldn’t help but notice your friend stole your drink. Ordinarily I’d overlook such thievery, but I’d hate for there to be a brawl in my favorite bar. So in the interest of keeping the peace, I’d like to replace it for you.” His voice smooth, as was his delivery. I had to remember to breathe.

“She wasn’t going to drink it, but you can totally buy her another drink,” Renee answered before I’d gotten the chance. Her smile widened as she turned to face me and mouthed the words “he’s hot.” She needn’t have bothered; his hotness was not something that needed to be confirmed.

“That’s okay, I’m good.” Thankfully words came out of my mouth even if they sounded in no way intelligent.

“Well, glad to hear you’re good. Nice to meet you, my name is Rusty.” He smiled as he moved in closer, his hand signaling the bartender. “What were you drinking?”

In what I can only explain as temporary insanity—probably from the shock of having the beautiful man talking to me—I blurted out, “I have a boyfriend.”

I officially wanted to die.

While I did have a boyfriend, and hopefully in a few hours I would be moving into his upscale apartment, there was no reason to announce it so dramatically. Almost as if to prove that I hadn’t secretly fantasized about him while in the shower every day this week—which I had. Sweat prickled at my brow.

“Is that some code for you’re not thirsty?” Rusty’s lips curved in amusement. While the words weren’t sexy, the humor in his voice was a definite turn on, a hot button straight to my libido as he stood there grinning at me.

“No, I-I just mean I can’t accept . . .” What was the word again? “A drink from you.” Yes, that’s what I wanted to say. “Or . . . or anyone else. N-not just you.” My mouth tried to regain some composure. It really wasn’t doing a great job.

“Well, would you look at the time? I have a thing, wouldn’t want to be late.” Renee tapped her naked wrist—her watch missing in action, as was her tact. “Call me, Ali.” She gave me a hug and whispered, “If you don’t screw this guy, you’re dead to me.” And just like that, she evaporated from the room.

Awesome.

“Your friend always bail on you like that, Ali?” Rusty’s voice curled seductively around my name as he smiled, moving to the barstool Renee had vacated.

“It’s Alison.” Ali was just too personal, like him kissing me on the mouth. I totally would not have been okay with that. Mostly.

Author Bio

T Gephart is an indie author from Melbourne, Australia.

T's approach to life has been somewhat unconventional. Rather than going to University, she jumped on a plane to Los Angeles, USA in search of adventure. While this first trip left her somewhat underwhelmed and largely depleted of funds it fueled her appetite for travel and life experience.

With a rather eclectic resume, which reads more like the fiction she writes than an actual employment history, T struggled to find her niche in the world.

While on a subsequent trip the United States in 1999, T met and married her husband. Their whirlwind courtship and interesting impromptu convenience store wedding set the tone for their life together, which is anything but ordinary. They have lived in Louisiana, Guam and Australia and have traveled extensively throughout the US. T has two beautiful young children and one four legged child, Woodley, the wonder dog.

An avid reader, T became increasingly frustrated by the lack of strong female characters in the books she was reading. She wanted to read about a woman she could identify with, someone strong, independent and confident and who didn't lack femininity. Out of this need, she decided to pen her first book, A Twist of Fate. T set herself the challenge to write something that was interesting, compelling and yet easy enough to read that was still enjoyable. Pulling from her own past "colorful" experiences and the amazing personalities she has surrounded herself with, she had no shortage of inspiration. With a strong slant on erotic fiction, her core characters are empowered women who don't have to sacrifice their femininity. She enjoyed the process so much that when it was over she couldn't let it go.

T loves to travel, laugh and surround herself with colorful characters. This inevitably spills into her writing and makes for an interesting journey - she is well and truly enjoying the ride!

Based on her life experiences, T has plenty of material for her books and has a wealth of ideas to keep you all enthralled.

BOOK REVIEW: Crashing Souls by Cynthia A. Rodriguez

TITLE: Crashing Souls
AUTHOR: Cynthia A. Rodriguez
RELEASE DATE: October 27, 2015

SYNOPSIS

I am darkness; what you would consider a thief amongst the living.
I’ve spent time, so much of it that it seems a trifle word to call it, in that gloom being swallowed whole by human grief and human tears.
I am the Angel of Death.
And all was dark until I met a man, searching for a woman.

Given a second chance to find the love of his life, whose soul was placed inside someone else after a tragic accident, a young man finds himself taking over the life of a teenager named Dexter. But there are rules: She will not remember him and he will only have fragmented memories, not knowing anything about the life he has been placed in and barely anything about the life he once lived. He embarks on a journey to right Dex’s wrongs and find the woman whose soul belongs with his, no matter what it takes. Finding her is one thing, loving her and her self-destructive ways is another.

Artful, sharp, and compelling, Crashing Souls explores the permanent mark left behind when two souls crash together.

MY REVIEW
5/5 STARS

“Are you always going to be so afraid of life that you don’t live it?"

I always take pleasure in discovering new authors. While I love the lightness and romantic feels most novels give me, I crave a certain depth of emotion and Cynthia A. Rodriguez handed that to me effortlessly.

Crashing Souls was literally a roller-coaster of emotions and realizations, a form of depth I never experienced in other books. It's like a piece of the author's soul was embedded in the story and was wonderfully played out by equally poignant characters. There were bits and pieces of heart-quaking scenes that gave me mini-heart-attacks, and specks of lightness that magnificently sustained the romance. The author knows how to keep a reader's interest with the story getting more and more gripping on every passing page. There were so many moments that I stopped for a while to feel, just feel, the raw emotions of the characters and contemplate on how real they were.

This book was an unexpectedly life-stirring, heart-breaking, soul-piecing, magnificently written and driven book. Yep. The title definitely spoke for itself. I can't wait to drown further on her next book!

MY REVIEW
5/5 STARS

“Sometimes we have to fight our way out of the dark because the light doesn’t come looking for us.”

Kennedy Ryan is one of my favourite voices ever. She proves it with every book she writes. I get immediately wrapped up in her story and completely forgetting time. No book of hers ever failed on that area. But with My Soul to Keep , she showed a different Kennedy Ryan that made me love her more.

The characters are both interesting, polar opposites but definitely equally poignant. I loved how the two of them were so different and yet so the same in some ways. Like they were molded for each other but they could stand on their own and still completely shine.

Throughout the book, I felt this intense connection with the characters and the story. It was driven wonderfully by the masterful storytelling of the author and it was spellbinding. It’s like I couldn’t help it. The story was hypnotizing, it ran so fluid and was so effortlessly engaging that leaving a chapter was just impossible. It was definitely a book of #feels ; ranging from a mere spark of interest that tickled my heart, to tumultuous feelings that left me torn, to fervent emotions that I could hardly contain. There was not a single scene in this book that made me think of closing it.

I’ve known Kennedy Ryan to have complicated characters trapped in complicated situations. But with Rhys and Kai, she enchanted me with a love that was free, passionate, straightforward, and irreplaceable. From the very beginning, Rhys owned Kai and Kai owned Rhys (but I totally loved the little arguments in between). My Soul to Keep is a keeper. It’s a book that I would read over and over. You have no idea how many times I’ve read this story but still felt every speck of emotions like it was my first time.

Yet again, Kennedy Ryan captured everything I want in the book and more. Great characters, great romance, humor, steam, amaaaaaazing secondary characters, fluid plot, poignant background stories, and excellent writing. One of my top books this year!
